William Schallert
William Schallert (July 6, 1922 - May 8, 2016) a former president of the Screen Actors Guild, appeared in one episode of The Andy Griffith Show. He has played recurring characters on the TV series "Commando Cody: Sky Marshall of the Universe", "The Adventures of Jim Bowie", "Steve Canyon", "Philip Marlowe", "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis", "The Patty Duke Show" (as Patty's father Martin Lane), "Get Smart", "The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries", "The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo", "The Waltons", "St. Elsewhere", "The Torkelsons", "True Blood" and "Desperate Housewives". He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his performance in the series "This Is the Life". His film appearances include Mighty Joe Young, The Red Badge of Courage, Singin' in the Rain, The Jazz Singer, The High and the Mighty, Them!, The Lone Ranger, Gunslinger, Friendly Persuasion, Written on the Wind, The Incredible Shrinking Man, The Story of Mankind, The Monolith Monsters, Some Came Running, Pillow Talk, Lonely Are the Brave, In the Heat of the Night, Will Penny, Speedway, Tora! Tora! Tora!, The Jerk, Twilight Zone: The Movie, Gremlins, Innerspace, House Party 2, Matinee, Beethoven's 2nd and Disney's The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes and The Strongest Man in the World. He was also the voice of Milton the Toaster in TV commercials for Kellogg's Pop Tarts.
