When a pretty young Manicurist starts working in Floyd's Barbershop. The men are uneasy about it at first, but eventually take to the idea in a big way. Their jealous wives, however, do not.

A beautiful manicurist named Ellen Brown, has left the large city in search for a friendly town. While on the bus, she spots a sign that says just that: "Mayberry, A Friendly Town". Deciding to give the town a chance, she walks into Floyds barbershop and gets a job immediately- explaining she will work on commission. The men however are weary of this; knowing the males in town will not want a manicure. Andy, not realizing Ellen is in the back of the shop, enters the barbershop and begins to tease Ellen- saying he knew she wouldn't last. Ellen appears and is devastated, stating it wasn't a friendly town after all. Andy, feeling bad, eventually gets a manicure, then coaxes the other men into getting one as well. The women start to gawk outside the barbershop window- angry at their men for getting manicures from such a beautiful woman. Realizing she needed to leave the barbershop, Andy had the task of "firing her". However, when he begins to, Ellen misunderstands, and thinks Andy is asking for her hand in marriage. Luckily for Andy though, Ellen has decided to go back to the big city, and her fiance Pierre.

  • This is the last appearance of Mayor Pike, due to Dick Elliott passing away a few months before the episode aired. He was the first recurring character to die during TAGS series.
  • Last physical appearance of Emma Watson. She will be mentioned by name in only two more episodes; The Bookie Barber and Andy on Trial

Sheriff Andy Taylor: "Nature's been good to you. I mean real, real, real good. I can't remember when I've seen nature spend as much time on one person."

Barney: Hows the hardware business Sam?
Sam: Slowest week I had in 3 years. Thinking about having a sale next week to boost business.
Barney: Oh yea? What are you gonna put on sale?
Barney: That's always a good household item.
