Summary[]

A pretty young Manicurist starts working in Floyd's Barbershop. The men like having her there but their jealous wives do not.

Plot[]

A beautiful manicurist named Ellen Brown has left the large city in search of a friendly town.

S2E16 - New in Town

New in Town

While on the bus, she spots a sign that says just that: "Mayberry, A Friendly Town.” Deciding to give the town a chance, she walks into Floyd's barbershop and gets a job immediately- explaining she will work on commission. The men, however, are wary of this; knowing the males in town will not want a manicure. Andy, not realizing Ellen is in the back of the shop, enters the barbershop and begins to tease Ellen- saying he knew she wouldn't last. Ellen appears and is devastated, stating it wasn't a friendly town after all. Andy, feeling bad, eventually gets a manicure, then coaxes the other men into getting one as well. The women start to gawk

outside the barbershop window- angry at their men for getting manicures from such a beautiful woman. Realizing she needed to leave the barbershop, Andy had the task of "firing her.” However, when he begins to, Ellen misunderstands and thinks Andy is asking for her hand in marriage. Luckily for Andy though, Ellen has decided to go back to the big city, and her fiance Pierre.

  • Guest Star: Barbara Eden - Eden starred in I Dream of Jeannie (1965–70)
  • This is the last appearance of Mayor Pike, due to Dick Elliott passing away a few months before the episode aired. He was the first recurring character to die during TAGS series.
  • Last physical appearance of Emma Watson. She will be mentioned by name in only two more episodes; The Bookie Barber and Andy on Trial
