Ellen Corby (June 3, 1911 - April 14, 1999) appeared in episodes of The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.
She appeared in two Laurel & Hardy films, Sons of the Desert and Babes in Toyland. Other film appearances include The Spiral Staircase, Lover Come Back, It's a Wonderful Life, The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer, I Remember Mama (for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress), Little Women, Mighty Joe Young, Here Comes the Groom, Angels in the Outfield, Shane, Sabrina, Vertigo, Pocketful of Miracles, Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte, The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (with Don Knotts), The Glass Bottom Boat, Disney's The Gnome-Mobile, Angel in My Pocket (with Andy Griffith) and Disney's Napoleon and Samantha. She may be best remembered as playing Grandma Walton on "The Waltons", for which she won three Emmy Awards (of six nominations) and a Golden Globe Award (of four nominations).
