Dud Wash is the fiancee and eventual husband of Charlene Darling in three episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. He is honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Private First Class. He is also the father of Andelina Wash. He and Charlene are divorced by 1964, but presumably reconcile. When Charlene appeared in the 1966 episode The Darling Fortune, there is no reference to Dud, thus making the status of their relationship uncertain by this point in time.
