Andy makes an earnest attempt at matchmaking to help Barney win the heart of his girlfriend Thelma Lou. Things go fine at first... until Barney misinterprets Andy's efforts and thinks he's trying to steal her away!


Andy is caught in the middle of a misunderstanding between Barney and Thelma Lou. The victim of Thelma Lou's scheme to make Barney jealous, Andy is cast as a rival for Thelma Lou's affections. Andy finally manages to work his way out of the mess, with Ellies Help, and brings the two lovebirds back together.


  • This is the first appearance of Barney's steady girlfriend, Thelma Lou. (Her last name is never mentioned during the entire series).
  • This is the first mention of the never-seen character of Juanita Beasley.
  • The title is based on Hector Savinien de Cyrano de Bergerac a French dramatist and duelist who is now best remembered for an overly large nose described in the Edmond Rostand's play based on this life.
