Camp Wilson

As dramatized in the season 5 episode "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.", Camp Wilson was a Marine Corps base in North Carolina, situated somewhere between Mayberry and Wilmington. It was the place to which Gomer Pyle reported to Gunnery Sergeant Vince Carter to begin his service as a Marine. Andy Taylor, ultimately bound for Wilmington, drove him there and helped get the former mechanic situated. Pyle's stay at Camp Wilson was brief, however, as he spent most of military career at California's Camp Henderson, still serving under Sergeant Carter.
